Ecuador is creating the appropriate environment for investors to take advantage of the multiple business opportunities that its diverse economy has to offer. To promote and attract foreign investment, Ecuador has established a new legal framework that grants foreign investors the same treatment and rights offered to domestic investors. The main features of this framework are below.
Foreign investment can be made in any productive sector without previous authorization and under the same conditions as those applied to investments made by Ecuadorian entrepreneurs or corporations.
The only required procedure is to register it at the country's Central Bank.
The foreign investors are allowed to remit abroad, in freely convertible currency, the net profits derived from their investments in the country, without any limitation whatsoever.
Any controversy that may arise from the application of the Common Regime on Treatment of Foreign Capital can be submitted to international arbitration courts, such as the OPIC, MIGA, etc.
